Web interface vs. API answer
Term from the world of AI visibility – explained simply by the GeoStars team.
Whether a measurement queries the answer a human sees in the app (web interface) or the answer from a programming interface (API). The two can differ significantly.

Why the difference matters
The interfaces people use work with web search, location, the provider's own instructions and additional features. An API answer without this framework can name different brands and cite different sources. For the question “What does my customer see?”, the web interface is the appropriate measurement.
How GeoStars measures
GeoStars queries ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode via the real web interfaces. Claude and Grok run as API add-on models – marked as API in the app and with higher consumption: 5 credits per call for Claude, 10 for Grok.
